The Terminal City Rollergirls' regular season ended with two explosions in Minoru Arena on June 26. The first was from Seattle’s Throttle Rockets, as they shot up the scoreboard 194-80 over the Riot Girls, while the second shot heard around the flat track came from L.A. Gunns and the unstoppable Bad Reputations, as they continued their mighty winning streak, beating the Faster Pussycats 187-52.
After setting the modern attendance record for roller derby this month –packing over 6,000 people at Seattle’s Key Arena -- it was derby-heaven for the Vancouver crowd to catch Rat City Roller Girls’ own Throttle Rockets from the beer-garden-y comfort of Minoru.

The bout started neck-and-neck, with the Throttle Rockets up 19-16 after the fifth jam. But the Riot Girls’ jammer took a costly penalty during the next jam and the Throttle Rockets took advantage, slowing down the pack by strategically pinning a lone Riot Girl behind an unmovable wall, leaving TR jammer Domino Scarvy to race around the track, taking the score up to 38-19.
At the end of the first half, Kamikaze Kim showed off her deadly-fast maneuvering, as she repeatedly circled the track, weaving in, out and through the pack – and ironically -- seemed to be the only one who didn’t crash and burn into the piles of humanity.
By the end of the first half, the Throttle Rockets were up 106-29 and they controlled the game from there on, putting on a show, with lethal hits dished out by Hard Cora and company.
The Riot Girls still kept the crowd in the game as cheers came for jammers Luludemon, Percy Galore, Trixi Trippin’ Chix and Mz Immoral as they continued to fight against the Throttle Rockets’ fierce blockers, who acted like a black hole, sucking points from the Riot Girls’ hard-fought effort.
The second bout saw the red-hot Bad Reputations take on the underdog Faster Pussycats in a match that got off to tight start, with a 3-3 score after the first jam, and the FPCs taking a short-lived lead in the second jam, 6-5.
The FPCs were tested early on in their bout, with the addition of L.A. Gunns to the rotations of jammers for the Bad Reputations, alongside risquée biznatch, Collide-O-Scope Kid and Booty Quake. Gunns is always a force as a blocker, but proved to be a double-threat jamming, adding another weapon from the Bad Reps’ cavalry, earning almost 60 of the BR’s points for the night.

The Faster Pussycats showed versatility, cycling though an impressive number of jammers – Amazombie, Lucky Breaks, Mary Queen of Shotz, with dashes of Tiki TimeBomb, 8Mean Wheeler, Sissy Straight-edge and Shell Shockk. But everyone seemed to take their share of licks from the Bad Reps blockers, led by Rollergirl, who tirelessly hit everyone that attempted to pass her.
Sissy Straight-edge managed to pick up the most points in her only jam for the team, picking up 9 points, when L.A. Gunns visited Penalty Palace.
The first half ended 77-33, with the Pussycats clawing at an epic comeback. But Gunns piled on 10 points in the first jam of the second half, as the FPC’s camped out in Penalty Palace, playing short-handed for most of the second half. (Three players also got tossed out of the game after seven trips to the Penalty Palace).
After the dust settled, the Bad Reps ended the regular season undefeated, setting up another sure-to-be-epic Championship Bout between the Riot Girls. The Season Four Championship is August 7th at Minoru Arena.
