WFTDA Rules

Want to know more about the rules of rollerderby? Download the official Women's Flat Track Rollerderby (WFTDA) rulebook:

Rule of the Month

4.4.2.2 To remain eligible for Lead Jammer, a Jammer must remain in bounds until she is within twenty (20) feet of the pack, a.k.a. the Engagement Zone, the area in which she may be legally engaged by a Blocker.

Why we love it: Watch out for Jammer-on-Jammer action! This rule means that if one Jammer can hit the other out-of-bounds before they reach the back of the pack, the Jammer hit out-of-bounds cannot become Lead Jammer (i.e., the only skater with the privilege of calling off (ending) the jam prior to the expiration of the full two minutes). This gives a huge strategic advantage to heavy-hitting Jammers!
